When it comes to buying good quality racing wheels and pedals, you’ll want to make sure that your money is very well spent on getting the best racing experience. For starters, racing wheels are fun and easy to use for gamers on all levels, no matter how much racing experience you have under your belt.

Plus, you get to feel like a race car driver the minute you start using one. There is nothing quite like getting behind a racing wheel, that’s fully capable of bringing you a complete realistic racing experience.

Below are four of the best racing wheels with pedals that are well capable of providing you with the best quality racing experience on PS4.

HORI Racing Wheel Apex

For gamers who are not too serious about sim racing this racing wheel is for you. Along with the racing wheel, The HORI Apex comes with pedals that have retractable footrest, in which can be used for additional foot room. Plus, there are setting configuration options that you can used for making adjustments to the wheel that suits your driving preferences.

One thing that you must know when using the HORI Apex is that there is a three setting configuration located slightly above the wheel that will determine the output of its use. These configurations are N-mode for normal mode, S-mode for Steering mode and a setting to PS3 for gamers still own the older PlayStation models.

Setting the racing wheel to Steering mode is highly recommended for gamers wanting a smooth and semi-realistic racing experience. Another thing you should know is that the HORI Apex doesn’t have force feedback, which can put off most sim racers. Although, it does have some form of vibration throughout it’s use, it still can propose a bit of a challenge and can take some time to getting used to.

Overall, for gamers on a $100 budget, the HORI racing wheel apex will make a great choice that’s well worth the investment to enjoy a fun semi-realistic racing experience on the PS4.

PROS:

  • Budget Friendly
  • Compatible with PS4, PS3 and PC

Even though there’s no force feedback, it does have vibration, and can still offer a bit of a realistic racing experience on PS4. For non PS4 owners, the PSN V9 is multi-platform compatible, meaning that it can be used on PS3, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

As for connectivity, the process is simple, starting by attaching the USB cable of the racing wheel into the USB port of the controller. After attaching the USB cable into the controller, press the “Mode” button to initiate connection. Once there’s a connection, the PXN V9 will be ready for use.

Connecting the wheel to gaming consoles is easy, you just have to make sure you attach the right cables to the right ports of both game console and the controller. After that, you can immediately start to enjoy the fun of racing with both the wheel and pedals right on your PS4 or Xbox.

Finally, with both racing wheel and pedals connected, you can use it to enjoy playing a majority amount of racing games that will enhance the way you race.

Next up, for gamers who truly want the complete realism of racing with an entry-level wheel, the Logitech G923 is just the one for you. As it comes with complete force feedback, along with a third pedal that will provide the feeling of realistic driving.

The Logitech G923 has True Force feedback in which can respond to every detail to driving that provides for a much more immersive and realistic experience. Along with the wheel comes with metal pedals, including a third pedal for shifting that can also add on to the immersion of driving manually transmission vehicles.

There are also mounting clamps in which can be used for locking the wheel in place, either on a table or desk while enjoying a realistic racing experience.

Lastly, the wheel is also compatible with PC, in which features a highly customizable software called G-hub for making adjustments to steering sensitivity and force feedback.

Thrustmaster T150 RS Racing Wheel

Lastly but certainly not least, the Thrustmaster T150 RS also comes with pedals that are completely compatible with PS4, PS3, and PC, in which can provide for an immersively realistic racing experience. Just like the Logitech G923, the Thrustmaster T150 RS has force feedback with a maximum rotation of 1080 degrees. Along with force feedback of the steering comes with resistance of the pedals that provide more realism to driving.

Not only does the Thrustmaster T150 RS brings the realism of steering virtually controlled vehicles, but also produce vibrations from both the wheel and pedals in which can feel like your driving on the roads in real life. Using both the wheel and pedals all together will indeed enhance the way to play racing games, like Gran Turismo Sport and Project Cars on PS4.

Even though there aren’t many features in the Thrustmaster T150 RS, it can still be money well spent that provides a deeply immersive racing experience.

When it comes to buying racing wheels, the most high-end racing wheels are hard to come by for those on a tight budget. But for those who can afford over $400 on a top-notch racing wheel, more power to you.

Even though cheaper racing wheels might not provide much value as major racing wheel brands doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy good quality sim racing.

After all, it’s about getting the best racing experience possible that is well worth the money well spent.

  1. Hey, there! Thank you very much for your post. In my opinion, a Racing Wheel, just as a gaming mouse gives you a better gaming experience. Racing wheels turn games into an immersive experience. I tried it once and from there on I do not play racing PS4 games without them.

    1. They sure do! Racing wheels can really be immersive that can may seem almost too realistic. That’s great to hear that you use a PS4 with a racing wheel.

Pairing a racing wheel up with the PS4 will no doubt be the best decision a gamer can ever make.

  2. Dear Terrence,

I am a gamer too. I cannot remember which my parents especially my dad got me first to help with my learning disability when I was little girl though, the PS1 or Nintendo 64 gaming system. I own PS1, PS2, PS4, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, SNES, Old Nintendo, and a Nintendo Wii.
Which do you prefer best PS3 or PS4? I have discovered PS5 recently out now, but I much prefer the older game consoles. PS5 is more white than black in terms of controls.
I suppose the graphics must be much better in a PS4 over PS3 also.
While I am a fan of other game genres besides racing which my husband loves, I shall be sure to let him visit your website as he is a gamer also like myself.
He is looking moreso at your 1st Option based on the Following Pros for that wheel HORI Racing Wheel Apex.

Hubby owns a PS3 and PC, so he would be willing to invest in this Racing Wheel item for sure!

    1. I am too a big fan of older game consoles including SNES, PS1, PS2, and PS3. You can use both PS3 and PS3 if you like. The HORI Racing wheel should be fine with both game consoles.

      All the best! 🙂
