Hot Wheels Unlimited Review – Time To Rev Up Your Engines!

Are you a Hot Wheels Fanatic or someone who grew up playing with Hot Wheels? If you are, then you should DEFINITELY stick around as we are going to be checking out one of the NEWEST mobile racing games available today, Hot Wheels Unlimited.

In this review, I am going to be walking you through about what there is to know about playing Hot Wheels Unlimited, from the gameplay, to collecting cars, all the way to building custom tracks.

When you think about Hot Wheels, you think of crazy-looking hot rods that 5 year olds play with right on their orange constructed playsets. Seeing Hot Wheels in video games is not uncommon as major hits like Forza have rolled out DLC expansions containing these legendary track toys as well as the recently release game of Hot Wheels Unleashed.

Now that the these iconic track toys have made their way into mobile game stores, players can now relive their childhood of collecting and racing these iconic track toys right on their mobile devices.

So without any further ado, let’s see what Hot Wheels Unlimited has in store for when you are playing on your smartphone or tablet.

The Gameplay

Ok first, we got to start with the absolute obvious gameplay. Right from the minute you jump into the main screen there are 4 features within the game that display “icons” that will give a clear idea of what to expect of each feature. Along with each feature of the game there is a male voice describing how each feature is used.

Moreover, one of the features that I found interesting was the “Ready Set Build” feature ( tools icon ) which showcases a wide variety of track puzzles that can be used for building out custom tracks. It is also one of the very few options that can be used to race cars.

Furthermore, the controls in the game are very simple since there are only two options. One is for swipe to steer and the other is for using buttons. There was of course, the daily challenges feature which has the wheels icon that provides 3 races a day to win either a car or a track piece.

Completing daily challenges each day is pretty much the only option to win cars and track parts for getting the most out of Hot Wheels Unlimited. The more cars and track parts you can collect the better, in which can make playing Hot Wheels Unlimited well worthwhile.

Collecting “Cool” Rides

What’s the point in playing a Hot Wheels game without having some cool cars to collect and to race with?

Am I right?

Any game that has the legendary “Hot Wheels” logo on it must include some cool cars that you can collect and race with, which brings us to one of the best parts about playing Hot Wheels Unlimited which is obviously collecting cars.

Collecting cars is SUPER EASY since completing daily challenges each day is the only option for building out a wide collection of iconic track toys.

Along with collecting cars there is the option to enter the garage ( car under the garage icon ) that will show all of the potential cars that you could win, once you have unlocked more cars you will be able to see your collection of track toys grow in which can make playing Hot Wheels Unlimited a lot more interesting.

Moreover, with more cars unlocked there is also the option to zoom on in your collection and learn about each car’s abilities or to simply just admire them. Admiring an ever-growing collection of cars kinda reminds me of looking into an isle of toys at a Toy’R’us store.

You know the feeling you get when you’re at a young age strolling in the section of cool toys that you got to have for Christmas right at the very second you start to lay your eyes on them.

Ah yes, memories memories.

Admiring your own collection of track toys can definitely bring back childhood memories of looking into a toy store with the desire to have more toys to add into your toy collection. Especially when it comes to building a collection of Hot Wheels.

Building “Custom” Tracks

Building a collection of cars in Hot Wheels Unlimited is one thing, but building out CUSTOM TRACKS is another, which brings us to the next best part about playing Hot Wheels Unlimited, you get to create your very own tracks!

How cool is that!

Just like with Hot Wheels playsets that 5-year-olds play with, you can build your own custom tracks by piecing together a variety of track parts in which can make your experience playing Hot Wheels Unlimited 10x more exciting.

Right from the lower right side of the main screen there is a special feature of the game called Ready Set Build ( tool icon ) once clicked will show you all of the options that you can use for building out your very custom track or tracks in which can take a bit of creativity in constructing your own killer race tracks for your entire Hot Wheels collection to race on.

You can add in numerous loop de loops, u-turns, or even a volcano track piece to your custom track to enjoy the thrill of experiencing ultra high-speed racing. There is no right or wrong in how you build custom tracks for your collection of Hot Wheels to race on, it’s all about getting creative in which can provide for a very unique mobile racing experience.

Using the Ready Set Build feature will no doubt have players, myself included feeling like kid versions of ourselves when choosing to construct a variety of track parts together right on mobile.
