Project Cars Go Review – What you need to know

Time for another mobile racing game review, this time goes by the name Project Cars Go. In this review, I am going to show you what this mobile racer has to offer.

Most players are very familiar with the Project Cars series on console and PC, but for players not familiar with the series, Project Cars Go will show you what it’s about all about right on your mobile device.

Controls

The controls are very simple, just like with every other mobile game, and that’s just by tapping on your screen. Project Cars Go has three control functions that are simply easy to understand.

  • Tap for shifting
  • Hold for braking
  • Release for acceleration

During your races will be three functions that are labeled in three different colors, blue for shift, red for braking, and of course, green for acceleration.

Your main focus is to time each of these functions accurately as possible, the second you reach the assigned control. It may sound a bit hard, but actually, it’s easier than you think.

Gameplay

Now that you know what the controls are, let’s dive a little deeper into what the gameplay looks like at the very minute you jump into your first race.

First off, you will notice the car that you are controlling steers all by itself, when it reaches the corners.

Look mother no hands!

Next, you will see three colors before reaching the finish line, blue, red, and green. The main purpose is to race your way up to the front just by following these three commands. No need to worry about, whether or not your car will crash into a wall, when you forget to use the brakes.

That’s the good thing about the game, even when you don’t use the brakes, the car will stay on the track without ever going off track, in which can feel like it’s on complete autopilot.

Now for the races.

There are 3 types of racing events.

  • Normal Race
  • Time Trials
  • Drag Race

Each one of these racing events will require you to time your shifts, and accelerations. In one particular racing event, drag racing will only be one command, shifting.

Drag racing in Project Cars Go is very easy. Before starting any drag race, there will be a tire icon indicating that you must spin your tires before taking off. As soon as the tire icon disappears, you will be all set to race.

Just like CSR Racing 2, your goal is to time your shifts, as soon as you reach the shifting command.

The Cars

The major attraction in the game is obviously, the cars. Every car is sorted by tiers, that range from tier 1 to tier 6. The higher the tier, the more expensive it is to buy. You can buy cars in a couple of ways, either by spending your in-game cash or diamonds.

Another way to attain new cars is through loot boxes.

Very similar to CSR racing 2, you can unlock new cars by spending mad bucks for box openings. Each mad buck comes in bronze, silver, and gold, and each box will also, come in bronze, silver and gold. You can win mad bucks from all of your races that you can use in exchange for loot box openings.

Each loot box opening will give you a chance to win exclusive cars. Attaining these exclusive cars can be time-consuming.

Over time, you will eventually, win at least a few cars from loot boxes as you progress throughout the game.

Upgrades

Time for upgrades, which is the most important aspect for winning all of your races. As you progress throughout the game, it is a must to make some upgrades before entering your next race. You can spend your in-game currency for upgrades.

Obviously, you know that.

Also, you can spend your in-game currency to stage up your upgrades giving your car a boost in performance. Each upgrade will make your races a bit easier to win no matter what.

Customization

Of course, we can’t forget about customizations can’t we? For every new car you attain can be customized to any new look available. There aren’t many customization options to choose from, but don’t let that stop you from changing up a few things here and there.

You can change the color and livery of your car. Each car will have a different set of liveries available, and you can’t go wrong with adding in a fresh new coat of paint.

The Rewards

There are many rewards you can win, including cash, mad bucks, which can be used to open loot boxes, and upgrades for boosting the performance of your cars. You can win various amounts rewards, and each reward that you earn will add up over time.

Below are the following rewards that you can win from completing races.

  • Money ( used to purchase cars and upgrades )
  • Diamonds ( used to purchase new cars )
  • Madbucks ( used for loot boxes )
  • Mods ( used for advanced upgrading )

Each one of these rewards are useful for making the most out of your racing progression, and time for playing the game.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy controls
  • Wide selection of cars
  • No skills necessary to play

Cons

  • Very little customization options
  • Too much promotion popups

To Sum It Up

Project Cars Go has a lot to offer for new and current players alike. The controls are very simple to understand, the gameplay is quite easy without any skills necessary, and there are various races that you can take on including drag races.

The amount cars you win ranges from tier 1 to tier 6. The higher the tier, the more expensive they will be.

Plus, there are various rewards you can win, including new cars from loot boxes, mad bucks for opening loot boxes, diamonds, and cash for purchasing new cars.

Also, you can customize and upgrade the cars you earn, which includes spending your in-game currency from your races.

  1. I am getting back to gaming after several years. I had not heard about Project Cars Go. I used to play Need for speed when I was in High School and loved it. But we don’t need to be in front of our PC anymore to enjoy a good car game. I will try this one out to see how much I like it. Thanks for your review.

    1. Cool I love Need for Speed. I still play classic need for speed games today including need for speed carbon. Yes we can enjoy good racing game in any device. Enjoy!
