In this review, we are going to be taking a closer look at Forza Street, which is available on both android and iOS. Any racing title, that is labeled Forza has to be exciting to play.
So, without any further ado, let’s see if Forza Street on mobile is as good as sounds like the Forza we all know and love on console.
The Controls
First off, there are two main controls that you can use in the game, which are nitro, and acceleration in which the pedal icon is used for. It’s very simple to learn the controls at the very moment you begin the tutorial.
During a race, it’s all about timing. The pedal icon located at the bottom right of the screen can be used in two ways, hold for acceleration, and release for braking.
The Gameplay
Even though the controls are simple and easy to understand, the way on how you use them can be a bit complex. What I’m talking about is how you use the control can affect, whether or not you will win or lose a race.
During a race, there will be colorful racing lines at each turn, which means you must wisely time the way on when you use the pedals. Yellow means to release off the gas, and red means to stay off the gas.
Before completing a turn, you will reach the yellow line indicating that you can get back on the gas again. At first, it can take a bit of time to getting used to, by the time you play around on your third or fourth race you will get a sense of how it’s done.
Since Forza Street is on mobile gameplay will differ from console, and it does. To some, the gameplay might be good, and to others, it might seem a little disappointing.
The one amazing thing that I noticed during gameplay, is how the camera angles changed while racing. Every time the camera changes angle while racing captures the suspense of going head-to-head with another racer.
When another racer approaches, the camera will zoom on in from an angle of your car.
Kinda like fast and furious.
The way how the camera angles changes while you race is the one thing, that really separates Forza Street from the rest of the other mobile racing games.
Cars and Upgrades
Just like in console or PC, you can win tons of world-class cars by spending your in-game currency. Usually, you can spend credits in every Forza game, but in Forza Street you can acquire new cars in a form of gold. However, the game itself does give out free cars.
Throughout the story mode, there will be a specific car class required for certain races. These types of cars include
Cars
- Muscle
- Street
- Sports
- Super
Each car class will also have a star rating of 1 star to 5 stars. Very similar to CSR Racing 2, the cars you earn will have a star rating that determines how powerful the car can be. Higher class of cars will be a challenge to go against throughout the main story mode.
Upgrades
Attaining upgrades in the game requires a bit of a grind, and it will take a string of races to receive at least a few upgrades, that you will need to progress throughout the game.
Usually, for most mobile racing games all it takes is to spend a bit of in-game currency to make a few upgrades, but with Forza Street, you have to work for them.
Another option to get upgrades is to open premium chip cards, which may seem a lot like microtransactions. The quickest way to get upgrades, is to win as many races a possible to receive upgrades. As you make further progress throughout the game, the races will get harder and the more upgrades you get the easier it will be.
The Rewards
The first reward you can expect to get is a new car the minute you start your first game.
Below are the following rewards you can earn.
- Credits
- Gold
- Upgrade kits
- Cars
- Chip Cards
The game doesn’t offer much in terms of rewards at first, but they can be quite useful for making the most out of the game.
One of the best rewards that the game offers is getting free cars every 24 hours. Getting free cars every 24 hours seems too good to be true for any mobile racing game, but with Forza Street, it’s pretty much a great deal that you shouldn’t pass up.
Getting free cars in Forza is no surprise at all, since the franchise is known to give out freebies in a form of slot spins. Aside from getting free cars, you can also earn credits, which can be used for making upgrades for all of the cars you earn.
Now, this is where things get a bit confusing.
In order to get more upgrades, you need to earn premium chip cards.
So, What are premium chip cards?
Premium chip cards are a special type of reward, that offers a wide range of new cars and upgrades.
The upside to this, is that you can earn premium chip cards just by winning x amount of races. It may sound a bit too much, but actually it’s easier then you think.
Throughout the game, you can earn premium chip cards in various ways just by winning races, and completing challenges. Premium chip cards are used to unlock new cars and upgrades for making the most progression throughout the game.
Lastly, there is gold, which can be easily won from races. Gold can be mainly spent for obtaining new cars. The more gold you earn, the more cars you can add to your garage.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Free to play
- Easy controls
- Cool camera motions
Cons
- Reward system can be confusing
- Little customization
- Must grind to receive upgrades
To Sum It Up
Forza Street on iOS and android has a lot to offer, from easy to learn gameplay to getting free cars every 24 hours. Of course, there is getting upgrades that require a bit of grinding.
There are several types of car classes, which include Muscle, Street, Sports, and Super.
Finally, there’s a variety of rewards that you can win, including credits, gold, premium chip cards, and of course new Cars!
So, Is it worth checking it out?
Well, I leave that up to you.
Forza Street looks fun. I’m not great at race car games so I’m looking for one that’s fun and I can still progress. This sounds like a good one for me. You certainly can’t get confused by the controls. But it sounds like there is still a certain amount of skill involved to be the best racer. Thanks for the review. I’ll check it out since it’s free there’s no downside to trying.
Yeah it is fun! My racing skills aren’t great either but I enjoy the challenge. Plus, It’s great that they still give out free cars just like on console and PC versions. Enjoy!
